Fundada em 1840, por subscrição popular, em terras doadas pelo fazendeiro Gabriel Henrique de Farias, a Capela São Pedro, em Araçatiba, é um dos símbolos da tradição do bairro, uma antiga vila de pescadores. Embora tenha sofrido uma série de reformas, a Igreja continua com traços originais, sendo uma das mais tradicionais de Maricá.
