The name Barra de Maricá comes from the fact that occurs sporadically there, the natural opening of the barra, in other words, where the water sea meets the lagoons of the city, renewing the lake fauna. A modern bridge is being built by the city hall in that area. The clear ocean beach turns into a trendy summer point for youth and families, where you can see whales, giant manta rays and even stray penguins at certain times of the year, with its white sand.
